Pastor Les Young is a "pre-boomer" born in 1943. While "less young" than he used to be, he is grateful that even "though the outer man is decaying, the inner man is being renewed day by day." (2 Cor. 4:16). He and his wife Barbara, (who just happens to be the Worship Arts Director at Living Word Fellowship), live in Voluntown, have three grown children and six grandchildren.
Prior to being called into full-time ministry, Pastor Les had received Masters Degrees in two different disciplines, had served as a combat engineer CO in the Army, and had run his own insurance agency for 23 years. Pastor Les was one of the founding elders of Living Word Fellowship in 1987 and has served as Senior Pastor since 1990.
As one devoted to life-long learning, Pastor Les is currently working on his Doctor of Biblical Studies degree. His spiritual gifting is in the area of preaching and teaching. With his varied background, his desire is to see the unchanging Word of God produce life-changing applications for all. Pastor Les still enjoys a good game of tennis, and working with natural things, like wood and the land. For excitement and connectedness to the community, he is Chaplain and CISD Coordinator for the Voluntown Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company.
